Once again technology is getting ahead of the curve, and getting into places were it was never expected. Just like Nintendo Wii’s started showing up in old age homes because they promoted moderate physical activity that was good for the residents, smartphones are being relied on by more and more doctors. Some doctors are using them quite heavily, and the iPhone is one of the most popular choices being made. There is a growing number of applications in the iPhone app store, that work on both the iPhone and the iTouch. Quick reference to medical reference libraries, and prescription suggestions and drug dosage calculators. There are quiet a few doctors these days, that wouldn’t set foot in the office without some sort of smartphone on their hip. When you couple that with being able to take photographs / videos and send them for consultation by other experts, it seems to be an invaluable tool. While most medical institutions are shying away from the officially, it’s only a matter of time, before they integrate them completely with existing patient and medical systems.
