A few years ago, Oakley came out with new pair of sun glasses, that incorporated a MP3 player into them. The headphones were built into arms of the eyeglasses, and rested just inside your ears. There were controls built into the frame of the glasses. I thought it was a pretty cool innovation, and one that’s been copied by several others since then. But with the rapidly increasing market for gadgets and personal gizmos, I think it makes a lot more sense to incorporate more things into our prescription glasses. Even if you don’t wear glasses, I think it makes perfect sense to put all our gadgets in a place that keeps our hands free.
We already, have bluetooth ear pieces that connect to our cell phones. Well, as the technology gets better and smaller, I think it makes more sense to put them all in one convenient package. Just imagine, that if by slipping on our sunglasses for a drive we have access to our cell phone, our gps, and our mp3 player all in one package. There is already technology available that can treat your glasses like a heads up display and show images and text on your glasses. There is also technology evolving that will recognize your eye movements as commands for controlling what information is displayed on your glasses. Or for that matter, played through your mp3 player built into your eyeglasses. Now that’s a gadget that beats the iPhone hands down.
